Extended Theme Description:
Visualization is a premium WordPress theme designed by Graph Paper Press and utilizes Blueprint, a CSS framework, which utilizes an easy-to-use grid and sensible typography. Those of you who are running magazine websites or sites featuring a lot of featured content/image posts are strongly encouraged to use this theme as it takes the stress out of upgrading to a different content management system by organizing your content on the front end.
The Visualization theme truly utilizes the space that is presented in two scroll-lengths. You can take the concept of magazine-style themes to the next level by featuring content in several areas, even on personal blogs. In the top right area of the theme is a drop-down categories area with a search box below this. Slightly further down the theme is the header (text-based) with a relatively large image below this. Additional drop-down pages are displayed in this relative area, somewhat built into the header image should you use an image with a dark/black bottom portion.
In the sidebar along the main content area is a tabbed “Latest”, “Popular”, “Departments”, and “Contributors” area. Continuing down the page, the rest of the eight category areas are shown, and the theme then splits off into a three column footer area – displaying (default) “Recent Comments”, “Archives”, “About”, and “Meta”.
Overall, the theme is highly functional, although there could have been more work done on having valid CSS (350+ errors/warnings), although many people are not focused on that when looking for a well-designed theme. There are dozens of features that make this theme ideal for both content and media producers.
To get the theme working, you need to specify nine categories, each in their respective spots on the main theme page. For example, if you want to display your featured post in the main area, you’ll need to mark that as the first category. The other categories must be designated in the index.php file.
For adding images, follow the instructions that the release/purchase page has listed, for specific image dimensions. Thumbnail images that display near the post excerpts on the main page are called through Custom Fields.
The theme does have a conflict/problem with plugins that use the Prototype JavaScript framework and possibly the JQuery JavaScript framework.
