Extended Theme Description:

Titan is a robust theme featuring a set of the most balanced options to get your blog off on the right foot. Yes, the theme might not be the most vibrant, but utilizing the well-commented code can alleviate some of those problems and help you customize your theme.

It is probably best that I take you through a visual look at the theme and then go through a more detailed set of features, appropriately in the “Additional Features” area.

The main color scheme is brown, tan, and white, but it isn’t in the least bit ugly. Instead, it combines these colors to create a professional and well-positioned theme to help promote your content. At the top and forefront of the theme, you can place an image logo, a tagline, and links to your RSS feed, Email subscription, and Twitter feed. Drop-down menus are integrated into the header.

While the sidebars are two columns, you could utilize a two/three column layout with split link columns. The sidebar is also ideal for placing advertisements and additional content.

Moving down towards the footer, you’ll find that it is three-columns, but well distributed. On the left (customizable), you can place an About statement, your Flickr photos in the middle, and utilize a search form to the right.

After this brief snapshot of the theme, it already appears to be an extremely powerful theme, but we’ll move onto the set of features that is included in a default installation.

License: The theme has been released under a GNU GPLv3 License, meaning it is free to download and use to your liking. You aren’t permitted to distribute the theme under a different license.

For $68.00, you can get access to professional support (not required to use), with unlimited support for all their themes, priority upgrades, special member-only add-ons, comprehensive theme tutorials, killer customization tips, and knowing that you are supporting open-source theme development.

Additional Features:

  • Flexible navigation menus with drop-down menus and you can even exclude specific pages or categories through the editing of the theme template.
  • Code optimized for search engines with dynamic H1 tags that automatically change depending on where you are within the site. For example, the index page uses an H1 tag for the header, while single posts and static pages use a H1 tag for the title.
  • No duplicate content due to your archives pages automatically being no-indexed so you avoid the Google duplicate content penalty.
  • Your most important keywords are embedded in the top of each post so search engines can correctly index your site.
  • Hand-crafted icons that add serious class and sophistication to your theme.
  • A customizable side box is ready for you to insert your own HTML.
  • Easily insert Google Analytics or other stats codes into the theme’s back-end area.
  • Page layout options, including cool list styling, cascading header tag sizes, and professional blockquotes.
  • Flickr support for photos in the footer or sidebar.

Version 1.11 Includes: Ability to disable Flickr from the theme options menu, added a style for H2 tags i the top notice panel, image .border class now places a border around the entry image, and a number of bug fixes.

I use the Titan theme for my own blog and I think it is fantastic. I have written a little tutorial on modifying it so you can display your own header image without having to pay for the pro version instead of the boring text that is displayed normally.
