Extended Theme Description:

Spectrum is a visually-rich magazine theme from WooThemes, offering a large number of features to help you set your blog apart from the millions of others out there.

We’ll be taking a closer look at the main page of the theme. At the top of the page, there are links to your pages (which is also capable of displaying child pages). In the right portion of this bar, you can include an RSS link – a little coding will allow you to integrate other social networking sites, too.

An image-based logo has been integrated into the area below this, as well as a 468×60 pixel advertisement. A drop-down menu has been included for categories.

Beneath this, there is a featured content slideshow, which has been well-designed and fits in well with the theme. To the right of this, there is a larger banner ad, which will help you drive new advertisers to your site.

“Recent” and “older” posts are displayed beneath the featured content area, each displaying an image associated with the post, the date, as well as the number of comments.

In addition to the larger ad in the sidebar, there is a tabbed navigation area, ideal for popular posts, latest posts, recent comments, as well as a tag cloud/listing. 125×125 pixel ads as well as a listing of categories and pages can also be included in the sidebar. Remember, the demonstration blog is only set up to show you what you can do with the theme, so you can customize it to your liking.

The footer is four columns, ideal for your Twitter stream, Flickr photos, links to recent posts, as well as another area to the right for other content.

Overall, the theme is well-designed, and with the ten unique color schemes/looks included, you won’t have any problem setting up the theme and customizing it to your liking. For more information about the theme, visit the release page.

Support: Support is included with the purchase of the theme. If you want support for any of their free thees, you will need to purchase a package (explained further below).

Additional Features:

  • Custom homepage layout with an integrated scroller, recent blog posts, and older blog posts, along with seven widget-ready areas.
  • A custom homepage featured area to showcase your noteworthy blog posts. The slider is tag-based, so it can include posts across numerous categories.
  • Custom widgets have been included for a tabbed area, video, Twitter, blog information, ads, and search.
  • Ten alternative color styles included.
  • Options to change the background color, upload background images, change the color of links, as well as the buttons from the options panel.
  • New WooThemes custom navigation options panel.
  • WooThemes Framework Version 2 integrated into the theme.
  • Back-end theme options panel included, allowing you to make simple changes without ever needing to edit code. Change your logo, customize the overall look of the theme, and add Google Analytics code to your site for tracking. Customizing your template couldn’t become easier.
  • Cross-browser compatible coding, ensuring your site looks properly across all modern and supported browsers.
  • Automatically-resizing thumbnails makes it easy to showcase images. There is no need to upload multiple versions of the same image, as the theme takes care of all the work.
  • Localized for translations, allowing you to translate/convert the theme into your own native language.
  • Woo Framework included, allowing you to customize the theme using simple modifications through their clean, optimized code.
  • Custom pages templates included (as shown in the images at the top of this page) within the theme package. Simply switch them through the standard page editing panel.
