Extended Theme Description:

Simple themes have become ever popular as the theme market allowed more complex themes to be developed, and people wanted to see a return of themes that weren’t cluttered.

The Simple theme, from Bob Jiwakacau, was designed to allow bloggers to have a minimalist, clean, and simple theme without the need for worrying about sidebar content. The only non-traditional element of this theme are the tabs located at the bottom of the page - which contain Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Categories, Archives, Popular Entries, and Top Commentators, normally shown in the sidebar.

One of my only complaints is the potential lack of functionality with the theme, as you need to purchase a premium version if you’d like sidebars. In addition, the color scheme has been over popularized in the past two months with the release of WordPress 2.5’s default color scheme.

Update (August 17, 2008): The theme has been upgraded to version 2.0, which adds a sidebar, rounded corners to each post, and removed the tabber on the footer area.  The code has also been changed, with some fixes and optimizations implemented.
