The News Plus Theme is a premium theme designed for all versions of WordPress versions 2.x and higher. In my opinion, it is one of the best designed themes available on the market.
We’ll take a visual walkthrough of the theme (in correspondence with the images above). In the header, there is an integrated search box and Google AdSense text links area. Beneath this, the logo (preferably text-based), category links, page links, a subscription box, and sign-in area.
You can place a featured article in the main content area (shaded in gray). This area is ideal for placing an ad or image related to the featured post. Between the featured post and the split column layout, with recent posts from selected categories, there is an additional space for placing Google AdSense contextual links. Following this, the posts vary in layout, mostly using excerpts and including a small thumbnail to complement the post content.
Taking a look at the sidebar, there is an additional space for block advertisements, an integrated search box, tabbed area for placing links to categories, popular content, latest posts, and tags. A YouTube video can be placed in the “Featured Video” area, as well as “Random Images” beneath this box. The footer allows you to place a blogroll, short about statement, and latest posts.
Overall, this theme has some of the best styling compared to many other themes available. Because it is a “news/magazine” theme, it may not be suitable fro everyone, due to the high level of thumbnail and images required. However, the theme is easy to set up and customize using the noted and styled CSS and HTML.
