It meant to read something along the lines of: "The Thematic Theme Framework has seen some of the biggest growth and use recently." I agree with you that it was one of the first, but is now clearly one of the most popular by the number of themes that have been created from it by third-party designers/developers. Out of the themes you have list, it has to be the second oldest one, if not the first.
