Extended Theme Description:
Please Note: Gridline News, Gridline Lite, and Gridline Magazine have been combined into the Gridline Theme.
Gridline Magazine is an advanced magazine theme designed by Graph Paper Press featuring a number of options allowing you to showcase your work instead of having to constantly focus on your theme.
In appearance, the theme appears pretty basic and minimalist, with a color scheme focusing on white, black/gray, and red contrasting colors. By default, the main page only displays one full post, with other posts contained in the “Previously Featured” and “Categories” area on the main page.
You can place additional content in the footer, as there isn’t much space otherwise for links and such, although the drop-down menus feature an added bonus – drop-downs for categories. One advantage of having the Blueprint CSS framework integrated into the theme is the flexibility – you can utilize the wide page format for displaying even more content than a traditional single page.
With all the features and small added elements, the Gridline Magazine can effectively transform any dull blog into a magazine website with just a few short editing steps.
Installation: The standard steps apply for installing the hteme – download, unzip, upload to your WordPress theme folder, then activate the theme after logging into WordPress.
There are some steps that need to be followed if you want everything to work the way it should – getting the correct number of categories, identifying which ones display on the main page, using photos (through Custom Fields) and resizing them (150×100 and less than 590 pixels in width), defining an author’s page, and using the CSS stylesheet.
Note: A word of caution is advised from the author – you need to know basic WordPress coding, HTML and CSS before you can develop the theme to the point where you are comfortable with a unique look.
Support: You can find support by visiting the Support Forums or contacting the author.
Additional Features:
- Compatible with WordPress version 2.3 and higher.
- Utilizes the Blueprint CSS framework for streamlined development.
- Uses custom fields and queries to create a unique blogging format.
- Valid CSS and XHTML.
