DeepBlue is an elegant, professional theme designed by Zidalgo. The theme was “created for sites with a lot of content, looking to maximize their sites’ monetary revenue.”
Stylish and flexible, the theme features an extremely unique look, with a non-blog layout. For one, there is a login area at the top of the screen to allow members to sign into a magazine portal, if you choose to take your site in that direction. There is a prominent area near the header, which represents categories rather than pages, adding to the uniqueness of the theme.
There is a main content area, which allows you to feature a single post and related posts to the right. Traveling down the right sidebar, there is a subscription area (RSS, iTunes, and Email). An integrated search box, advertisement block, additional subscription/donate/contact links, and finally, typical content in a tabbed box, internal links, plus additional banner blocks.
The footer features a four column layout with three rows of footer links.
All in all, the theme has been well styled, but focuses more on maximizing your profits with too many advertisement blocks built into the content area, to the point where it may become distractive to readers, in my opinion. However, I feel that the feature set is extremely attractive when you truly take advantage of it.
