Extended Theme Description:
Please Note: This theme has changed dramatically from what is shown here.
ClassiPress is the first and only WordPress theme dedicated to classifieds websites, theme designed by AppThemes.
The theme features a bold, white and blue, sleek theme design with a large search box and “Post a Classified!” areas, so it is easy for users to submit new advertisements.
Categories are displayed in a horizontal navigation (tabbed) bar, but the page must refresh with each change of category, which may be seen as a disadvantage over AJAX or other “no refresh” methods.
Beyond this, items are placed in the box beneath its category with the price, location, and post date.
Overall, the ClassiPress theme offers a wide array of features for managing your classifieds and allowing others to post them on your site. It is with welcome relief that this was created, as most other solutions are poorly manageable, plus you are working in a familiar environment with WordPress.
One feature that I would like to see integrated, possibly in a future version, is a blog/news page, although it wouldn’t be too hard to create a new page layout or add it as a separate WordPress installation.
Support: You will need to contact one of the designers for support.
Showcase: You can find a showcase of how the theme is being used in various sites around the web on this page. The theme makes it easy to setup any form of online classifieds without any large development costs (you are the person in charge of design).
Additional Features:
- The first and only premium WordPress theme designed to easily turn your website into a classified ads system.
- Feature-rich theme built for ease right out of the box, with strong integration into the WordPress feature system.
- PayPal Integration – Turn you website into a money maker. The theme is built with PayPal integrated right into the theme. This allows you to charge a fee for anyone who wants to post a classified ad on your site.
- Image Manager – Easily see what images have been uploaded and moderate as needed.
- Instant Image Uploading – No more having to wait for customers to email you their images before posting the ad. Your customers can attach multiple images directly to the ad submission form.
- Auto Expire Ads – Automatically prune ads older than x amount of days, which makes it easier to set an ad price based on a specific time limit.
- Subcategory Support – Their classifieds ads system supports nested categories for those who are looking for deeper listing capability.
- Seller Contact Form – Visitors can easily contact sellers right form your website. The AJAX-driven contact form is neatly built into each individual ad page.
- Integrated Login Box – Sellers can quickly login to post new ads right from your website header (optional feature).
- Report Bad Listings – Visitors can report spam or inappropriate ads on your site, with notifications being sent through email.
- Multiple Currency Support – Choose from more than eighteen different currencies based on your country’s location – all that PayPal supports.
- Email Notification System – Receive an email when a new ad has been created. You’ll also be notified when payment has been made.
- No Plugins Required – There are no plugins required for the theme to work as stated. They do, however, recommend some plugins to get the most out of your site.
- Widget-ready Sidebars – Easily ad or remove widgets from the sidebar without having to touch any code.
- RSS Feed – Visitors can subscribe to your RSS feed from any feed reader and instantly see your latest classified ads.
- Advertising Plugin – Create additional revenue from your site by using the optional advertising plugin.
- Five Color Schemes – Now you can choose form five different colors, how you want your site to look (blue, green, pink, red, and classic). You can easily change the scheme within the back-end panel.
- Updated Options Page – Improved features have come to the admin options pages.
- Breadcrumb Navigation Menus – See exactly how deep you are on a page with the detailed navigation links built in.
- Email and Print – You can now have your visitors print and/or email the classified ads by clicking a link.
- Tags – Each classified ad supports multiple native WordPress tagging systems for improved organization and searching.
- Ad Visitor Counter – Shows how many daily and all-time visitors on each specific classified ad.
- Feedburner Support – Easily integrate your Feedburner account into your classifieds site for tracking.
- Google Analytics – No need for a plugin or trying to stumble through the code. Just paste the code into the back-end area, and you’ll be ready for tracking your visitors.
- AdSense Support – Make additional income from your site by pasting in your code, as it will appear throughout the site.
- PayPal Sandbox Mode – You can test your PayPal account and process dummy payments before opening your site for business.
- Embed Video – Your customers can include videos in their classified ads, as the theme supports many popular sites like YouTube, Google Video, MetaCafe, Vimeo, and other flash/embed sites.
- Custom Fields – You can add an unlimited number of custom fields so you can add extra meta information to your listings.
- New Icons – Throughout the theme, you’ll find new icons, which helps give it a cleaner, more defined look.
- Multiple-Language Support – Standard localization is built into the theme, making it easy to localize the theme and change it into your native language.
- Improved SEO – Enhancements have been made to help promote your site through search engines.
- New Features in Latest Version (2.9) – The new version consists of features that have been integrated into WordPress 2.7 (and higher versions, too):
- Ad Editing – This allows your customers to edit/pause their own ads from a custom page without ever having to see your WordPress back-end panel. This provides better security and makes your site look more professional.
- Customer Dashboard – Your customers hav ea place where they can login and view, edit, and pause all their ads. There is no need for them to access any “private” ares of your site.
- Customer Profile Page – Make your site more interactive and personal with customer profiles. Now registered customers can update their own info, change their password, upload a picture, and much more. This allows anyone viewing their ad to click on the author’s name to see their profile page, using the WordPress author page functionality.
- Themed Login Page – This feature gives your site a more professional and complete look, rather than using the default login page.
- Category-Level Pricing – This is a much-requested feature and allows you to set individual prices for each category with no limitations. You can also place “stuff” on your site for fre.e
- Percentage-Based Pricing – Now you can charge on a fixed percentage rate, depending on what the item is.
- Featured Ad Option – This allows you to charge an extra amount so customers will be highlighted in yellow and listed at the top of your homepage (uses built-in WordPress sticky option).
- Redesigned Ad Form – A new multi-step ad form with better validation and easier-to-add additional fields. It now uses jQuery and Thickbox so it’s compliant with WordPress’ standards.
- Column Sorting – Now you can sort your listings by either ascending or descending order, allowing your customers to quickly order the items without browsing through multiple pages.
- Redesigned Header – A general overhaul was done to the header and is much better organized. You can find links to your pages, login, dashboard, site logo, and a 468×60 banner ad spot all nicely organized at the top of your site/page.
- 468×60 Banner Spot – Sell advertising on your classified ads site or just put your own affiliate marketing banner there instead. This is all easily managed form within the ClassiPress admin pages without having to touch any code.
- Custom Logo – You can include your own site logo in the header area without editing the code.
- Google Maps – See where each listing was posted from using the Google Maps API, accurate down to to the street number.
- Revamped Categories – There is a new category hierarchy that supports multiple drop-down sub-categories. No custom styling required.
- Sub-Level Pages – If you have multiple pages on your site, you can organize them using the built-in feature panels.
- Countdown Timer – Displays remaining time left for each ad before it is pulled down. If you don’t want your ads to be removed, this can easily be turned off.
- New Ad Field – Allow your customers to include a URL within their own ad posts, with a new field on the form.
- jQuery Updates – The theme now uses updated versions of the scripts. This makes it easier to add new plugins or change the code, if you are required to do so.
- Updated Image Viewer – Replaced Lightbox wiht Fancybox, for viewing images within each ad. This provides a smoother, more preferred viewer using jQuery.
- Many Other Features – There are many new features in the new version that haven’t been documented.

Thanks for the review
Some features that the new version of the theme will have also includes image upload right from the form.
There will also be a page with a changed design that you can use for pages like contact page or about page or to write something else.

Gaby,
No problem, I (and other WordPress users) are looking forward to new themes and enhancements to the themes.
There is certainly a high demand for specialty themes, from both the developer and individual user standpoint.

I had to refresh the page 2 times to view this page for some reason, however, the information on here was worth the wait. I loved that it is also really easy to read for the eyes.

I am developing a site that needs certain functionality. It is like a craigslist in that people can post for free. Someone browsing or searching the listings needs to be able to sort according to proximity from their inputed zip code, and I need to keep the contact information permanently confidential. Sending e-mails needs to work like Ebay. They go through the website. Once contacted both persons have each others e-mails and I have provided the connecting service. End of service.
Here’s my BIG question. What plugin would allow me to charge a fee to then enable someone browsing to contact someone who listed and made the post? I want posting to be free, but contacting those who post needs to collect a fee. I could have each registered member load a credit of $20 to their account and then I could debit $1 per click when e-mailing another member. I could also charge a yearly fee and allow unlimited contacting during that time period.
I know this sounds like a porn site but it is actually a religious networking site.
Elgg has too much functionality, Buddypress allows too much contacting between members and I don’t want that without a fee. Where do I go? I use WordPress for all my sites. I am hosted on Godaddy. I am not looking for a free site. I can pay a reasonable fee for this functionality. Of course, free is always good. =)

Hi Tony,
I don’t know if there is a solution on the market for that. Generally people don’t charge to have that functionality on a forum. With WordPress, I assume you could take a plugin/theme and adapt it to suit your needs. Since this is a custom solution, you might want to look on one of the freelance job boards for WordPress work and see if someone would do this.
I hope this helps.
